Main Street Minute: Finding Waldo

Posted: Updated:

Waldo is headed to Minot. No, seriously.

Normally you would look for Waldo between the covers of a book, but starting in July you can find Waldo in businesses throughout the Magic City.

"What we do is we give people passports," says Main Street Books Owner Val Stadick.

In those passports are 25 shops around Minot that an 8-inch Waldo figure is hiding in.

"We urge people to find as many figures of Waldo as we can," says Stadick.

Rest assured, Waldo won't be unreasonably hard to find.

"We encourage the businesses not to hide them too. Make it difficult for people," says Stadick. "If they would be in plain sight, they wouldn't have to unearth anything or, or look under things."

If you find enough Waldo's you may be eligible for prizes, but it's all a way to encourage people to visit businesses around town.

"I think it's important to bring people downtown. Lot's of times we're forgotten. People forget, especially the people who live locally. We get a lot of outside business during the summer. A lot of visitors visit downtowns."

Participating businesses will have a sticker in their window that says Shop Local... Find Waldo Here!
