Highway Patrol Seeks Assistance for Hit and Run

Posted: Updated:

The Highway Patrol is looking for a trucker who ran over and killed a stranded driver in McHenry County.

Authorities say the driver of a vehicle crashed and ended up submerged in water at the intersection of Highways 52 and 14 west of Drake at about 2:30 this morning.

The driver got out and started to walk down Highway 52 to find help. A westbound maroon or red Volvo semi hit the person and continued on.

It may have been heading to Canada, Williston, or Montana, and it may have front passenger side damage to the grill, fender, or headlight.

Call State Radio at 328-9921 if you have any information.
