The Mercy Medical Auxiliary Garden Tour is this Sunday starting at one and running through 5 p.m. The event is designed to appeal to anyone, whether you're a beginner or an experienced master gardener.

This is the 21st annual Garden Show. It's a popular tradition that benefits a noble and needy cause. The tour is also provides an opportunity to expand your gardening expertise.

"It’s just a great way to get ideas for your own yard and just to enjoy accomplishments of other people. We'll have six yards available. It’s really attractive to most people, if you're interested in gardening at all, It’s wonderful. If you just like to observe and see what other people do, it’s also wonderful," says Auxiliary member Marilyn McGinley.

The Mercy Medical Auxiliary hosts events, such as the Garden Show, to benefit patient care at Mercy Medical Center.

"The hospital is always in need of equipment, and it’s our way of contributing to that need. We've provided a lot of help to the hospital through the auxiliary fundraisers,” says Auxiliary Treasurer Liz Martin.

“It’s the Mercy Medical Auxiliary, and of coarse our philosophy is, garnering funds to aid patient care. Most of the things we raise money for will be enhancement for patient care," says McGinley.

Usually over 200 people participate in the annual Garden Show, and the Auxiliary has high expectations for this year’s event.

"It’s well attended, everybody enjoys it, you get good ideas, its fun," says Martin.

This year’s proceeds will go towards a Total-Lift which will make it easier to move patients.

Admission to the tour is $10. Meet at the James Memorial Art Center where maps and directions will be distributed.
