Deal One Helps Graduates Get Out of Debt

Posted: Updated:
They're off to a good start. The Bank of North Dakota says it's happy with the number of graduates using the Deal One Loan program to help consolidate their debt.

Deal One Loan program consolidates various student loans into one payment with competitive interest rates starting at 1.73 percent. To qualify for the program, the graduate must be a North Dakota resident.

"We think there's a lot more out there. You know our early thoughts on this were that there's 50 thousand people that could qualify for this. We're just 2,000 in to it. So, we think there's a lot more to come," says Bank of North Dakota President Eric Hardmeyer.

Hardmeyer says the program is only two months old so he's happy with the results and says the bank is going to wait a few months before looking to see if any changes can be made.
