Cab Company Offers State Fair Shuttle Service

Posted: Updated:

The North Dakota State Fair is 10 days of deep-fried food, carnival rides and shows. But more people and more traffic means more chances for accidents on Minot roads.

During last year's fair a 23-year-old Minot resident was hit by a drunk driver on Burdick Expressway. The girl was taken to Trinity Hospital for treatment of multiple injuries.

This year, one local taxi company wants to help reduce the chance for accidents, and cut down on the number of drunk drivers on the roads. For the first time ever Central Cab Company will offer a shuttle service from three different locations in the city to gates at the fairgrounds.

“Now during fair time, you're going to have 3 times the amount. With my drivers, we try to take all the back roads, try to stay off Broadway as much as possible, makes it a little quicker,” said Chris Braun, General Manager of Central Cab.

For $20, people can buy a shuttle bracelet that will allow them to ride any of the shuttles as many times as they want that night. Shuttles will depart from The Landing, Da Udder Place and the Dakota Lounge at 6, 7 and 8 p.m. and will return to the fairgrounds at 11, 12, and 1 a.m Their plan, is to stay away from the heavy traffic.

“We feel that if we stay out of the way and drive the back streets and back roads, it might decrease the congestion, confusion and possible injuries,” says Braun.

People can sign up for shuttle rides at any of the three locations, and can call Central Cab with questions.
