Organic Foods Aren't Always Good For You

Posted: Updated:
Navigating the maze of organic food labels, benefits, and claims can be pretty confusing...especially when there are so many out on the market.

Organic foods promise to be healthier and chemical free, but that's not always the case. Dietitians say it's important to look at the nutritional facts and not just the label.

"Just because a food is labeled organic, doesn't necessarily mean that it's better for you," says Dietitian, Tricia Wolf. "There are potato chips, cookies, all kinds of things that are organic, but not necessarily full of nutrients."

In order for products to get the "USDA organic" seal, the food must be at least 95 percent organic.
