MSU Boasts High Ranking College of Business

Posted: Updated:

For many college students, going to class doesn't always mean sitting in a classroom, sometimes it means sitting in front of a computer.

Professors want their students to succeed and the College of Business at Minot State University is doing what it can to reach students near and far.

“We focus on student engagement,” says Gary Ross, a College of Business Professor at MSU. “We try to ensure that our students try to make sure they are engaged in the learning process.”

Engaging students can be difficult, but the College of Business is experimenting with new technology that would allow students from around the world to learn together in one virtual classroom.

“We are trying to experiment with using that in a greater way, to involve online students in an in live face to face class session,” Ross says.

The U.S. News and World Report has ranked the MSU College of Business and undergraduate online programs among the nation's best online education programs. This is something Ross says he believes will draw more eyes towards the Minot State campus.

“It's very affirming, especially coming from a lesser known university. Minot State University is a good school, but it's not widely known around the country and world," he says.

Even though MSU doesn't have the large enrollment of some major universities, the school is making little changes to make sure the students and the university succeed.

About one-third of the college's students make online classes a large portion of their degree.
