Businesses Prepare for Day of Giving

Posted: Updated:

Saturday, members of the community will come together to bring a little joy into the lives of children in need.

Magic City Harley-Davidson is teaming up with several businesses and organizations in the area.

Together, they're giving away 550 bicycles and 1,100 backpacks for children from underprivileged families, as part of the 11th annual Day of Giving.

They're also giving away 1,200 coats, as winter gets closer and closer.

"Not everybody in the community is that fortunate. There's a lot of underprivileged people, and we're seeing that as more people are moving into the community," says Connie Sundby of Magic City Harley-Davidson. "It makes you feel really good inside that you're able to give back to a young child who really has no control over whether or not his family has money or not."

The event starts at 5:30 Saturday night behind the visitor's center at the Roosevelt Park Zoo.
