Giving Back to the Parks

Posted: Updated:

It was a packed house at Roosevelt Park Zoo for Military Appreciation Day, but it wasn't just the zoo giving back to the community.

Verendrye Electric presented the zoo and the Minot Park District with a check for $7,500. The donation was a special way for the Co-op to celebrate its 75th anniversary. The zoo's director says the money could go towards several projects like a new panda exhibit or updated medical equipment.

“It's our greatest asset. Like I said many times we have wonderful staff, we have terrific animals, but the citizens of Minot and their support of the Zoo is our greatest asset by far,” stated Zoo Director David Merritt.

The zoo will be open 10 a.m.to 6 p.m. from now through September, weather permitting.
