Burdick Job Corps Holds Graduation

Posted: Updated:

It was graduation day for students at Burdick Job Corps Center.

Family and friends came out today to watch Burdick students walk the line for their diplomas.

Students received their degrees in nursing, carpentry, welding, culinary arts and office administration.

Just over 60 students graduated this year from the Job Corps, and around 30 of them attended today's ceremony.

"A lot of our students come in with a lot of different issues that we are able to work with them, providing them counseling, provide them with some structure, providing them with some care and understanding, and a lot of them have overcome," says Job Corps Center Director Curtis Shepard. "We are really happy to see the achievement that. They came in one way, and leave as a graduate."

"The work that has accomplished me in going into this is a lot. Family, friends, hard work, dedication, confidence in yourself and never giving up and basically, paying attention," says graduate Zackary Feltman. "No one is making you do it, you gotta do it for yourself."

Today's ceremony caps off the job corp's 15 year of serving the community.
